Description

Your final case study paper must be 4-6 pages long, SINGLE SPACED with Times New Roman font size 12, and with 1 inch margins (the default margins in MS Word) all around. I will not accept a paper that does not conform to these restrictions. Your grade will be based on the structure and format of your paper and quality of your analysis. Detailed grading criteria are listed at the end.

a. Motivate your main claims or hypotheses. If your paper is an industry study, your main goal in this section is to introduce the reader to an expanded discussion of the main claims you intend to establish about the industry. If your paper includes a theoretical model, carefully describe your notation, the structure of the model, and its solution.
b. Discuss your sources of data and other information, summarize any sample data you use in tables.
c. Describe your method of analysis in detail. If you examine trends, explain how you do so. If you interview industry participants, describe the interviewing technique.
d. Present your results, and discuss any limitations of your analysis.

f. Figures and tables should appear at the end of the paper on separate pages, not imbedded in the text. You should refer to the tables and figures in the paper. Tables and figures should be well organized and easy to read.

1. For market analysis: discuss supply, demand, and elasticity of this service.
2. For firm analysis: discuss the costs associated with producing this service (fixed costs, sunk costs, variable costs, etc.)? are producers making economic profits?
3. For Industry analysis: what kind of market structure is this industry, competitive? oligopoly? or monopoly? what is the industry concentration ratio? Are there entry barriers in this industry?
4. For strategy analysis: think about what are their pricing strategies? how producers compete with each other? are there vertical contracts with upstream (for example, movie producers) or downstream companies?
