Describing Artwork Stylistically
Choose 3 artworks from the National Gallery of Art collection (https://www.nga.gov/collection/highlights.html). Describe the subject matter and use all stylistic terms that apply (at least 2 – 3 per artwork). If you choose three very different artworks, you will get more practice using the different terms. Be sure to begin each description with the artist’s name, title, medium (what is it made of), year, and an image of the artwork. Take your time to explain what you see and explain why the terms you’re using apply, citing specific examples from the artwork.
