Using the resources provided, weigh in on which type of decision-making theory is most used in the U.S. today at the federal level (think back to the Tyler Cowen article about gridlock).

  1. What about at the local level?
  2. Do you think that the decision making is more partisan or more rational?
  3. In your view, do members of Congress vote in the “best interest” of their constituents or do they vote according to the majority of constituents’ wishes?
  4. Given the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade that allows termination of pregnancy in the first trimester, what sort of decision-making is represented in states where this “Pain Capable Newborn Act” law, the “Women’s Right to Know,” and the “Informed Consent” laws have been passed?
