For the most part, Americans consider themselves a fair-minded people, but there is disagreement about what is fair? What is fair politically, judicially, socially, and economically in this country? The readings for this week provide a sample of the rich discussion surrounding this interesting question.
In a minimum of 3 pages, discuss whether or not the readings for this week are relevant to current debates about fairness in our society. Feel free to explore our current political, legal, and/or economic environment. Bear in mind that these separate topics are often connected.
• What do the readings for this week generally get right and what do they get wrong concerning the topic of fairness?
• Are the ideas expressed by the various thinkers still relevant or are they a little dated?
