Current Event Project

As collegiate level sports continue to shift and refocus, it is imperative to explore events as they are happening.

Each student will be responsible for completing 4 Current Event reviews. Each CE must consist of 2.5 pages. One-page summary of the article and the additional page will consist of the student’s opinion regarding the CE.

Here are the particulars:

When – Current Events are to be submitted to the D2L drop-box by the following deadlines:
How – Choose an article about a current news item/journal article that has taken place within the past 4 weeks. You may utilize online blogs, magazines, journals, newspapers or whatever legitimate written source you desire. You must be able to attach a copy of the article or a link to the document to your submission.
What – Write an objective 1-page summary of your article. Try to stay as middle of the road as possible. Look at it this way, if someone who completely disagreed with you read your summary – they would not be able to tell that is was written by someone with an opposing view. Then comes page 2…This is a time for you to have your 15 minutes, if only in writing. What do you really think? Give examples, pour your heart out and do not pull any punches.
Why – Sometimes when you flush out your feelings on a topic you are able to grow and learn more about yourself. I ask that you challenge yourself in your quest for events. Step outside of your comfort zone at least once during the term.
