Regardless of your perspective, your story should contain both scenes and exposition—with a heavy dose of rumination mixed in. Your scenes should contain descriptive details and dialogue. Your exposition should
provide context and background. Your musing should be reflective but be careful to avoid overt insularity and solipsism. Use the scenes to break up the explanatory summary and navel gazing. And don’t neglect to
establish setting.
