Ask about the primary duties or focus of the counselor’s job. Does he or she have a chance to work with students either individually or in groups? (BOTH) Does the counselor follow the ASCA National Model? (YES) Why or why not?

Ask about how confidentiality issues and if the counselor had to disclose confidential information in order to protect someone from harm.

Ask about their use of data or if/how their job has changed over the years.

Ask if he or she or other counselors have the opportunity to affect change within the school setting. Provide an example, if possible.

Ask about the school demographics and any specific challenges of working with diverse populations. If the link does not work, the population is predominantly hispanic and lowincome, so much so that all students qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
