It is important to include informed consent in every research study because it protects the rights of human subjects. Informed consent ensures that participants are aware of the risks and benefits of participating in the study, and that they are free to choose whether or not to participate.

Ethical concerns when studying human subjects include:

• Privacy: Participants’ information must be kept confidential.
• Harm: Participants must not be harmed by participating in the study.
• Justice: Participants must be selected fairly.
• Beneficence: The study must be conducted in a way that benefits the participants.

I would not have volunteered for a study with Masters and Johnson. Their studies were very invasive, and they did not always obtain informed consent from their participants. I believe that it is important to respect the privacy of human subjects, and I would not want to participate in a study that did not do so.

However, I do appreciate the work that Masters and Johnson did to advance our understanding of human sexuality. Their studies were groundbreaking, and they helped to destigmatize sex research.
