Comparing a policy in two different countries

Description

In this short assignment you will be comparing a policy in two different countries. You can get as specific as you would like (comparing specific laws/regulations on things like abortion, prostitution, marriage, etc) or you can remain broad (comparing education spending).

Example: Comparing paid maternity leave in the United States vs. paid maternity leave in Sweden, comparing education spending in Finland vs. Malawi.

Remember, this is a comparison and, for comparisons to be meaningful, the cases should be as similar as possible OR there should be a clear reason for having two very different countries (demonstrating that bigger countries have X or Y advantages, etc).

When completing your assignment, you should make sure that you have included the following.

A. Description of the policy being examined.

B. Description of the policy as it exists in Country A.

B1. What does the policy look like?

B2. What is the history of the policy?

B3. How effective is the policy?

B4. Are there criticisms of the policy? Weaknesses?

C. Description of the policy as it exists in Country B. (see the above list for items you should include).

D. Comparative analysis of the two cases. How are the two the same? Different? And, most importantly, WHY are the two different?

E. Accurate bibliography.

A: All five components are present and accurate. Uses quality sources and the comparative analysis is strong and/or nuanced.
