Company analysis
Pick a publicly traded company that is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange whose name begins with the
same letter as your first name (if you can’t find one, use the first letter of your last name). Using information
available from the web as well as the resources of the Dal library (be sure to cite all sources), conduct a basic
fundamental and technical analysis of the stock.
For the fundamental analysis, give a brief overview of the industry as well as the company analysis. You do not
need to calculate every ratio included in the CSC text but make sure you can tell a good story from the ones
you use. Be sure to look at trends and comparisons for these ratios.
For the technical analysis portion, chart the stock price and see if you can detect one of the patterns described
in the CSC manual (don’t worry if you can’t as they don’t always exist). Also conduct a moving average
analysis (you can decide what period to use).
Finally, include a short concluding paragraph with your prediction of where the stock price will be heading in the
next year.
