COMMUNICATION PLAN
Provide context information about YOUR placement by addressing the following prompts (refer to forms given). If you do not have a placement, assume that you are working in the position that you are seeking (school, grade level, academic subject, etc):
- In what type of school are you teaching? (i.e. preschool, elementary school, rural, urban, etc.)
- What grade-level/age group are you teaching?
- List any special features of your school or classroom setting (i.e. charter, co-teaching, classroom aide, bilingual, team-taught with a special education teacher) that will affect your communication.
- Describe any district, school, or cooperating teacher requirements or expectations that might affect your communication, such established routines.
- Describe any unique parental characteristics that should be considered when developing a communication plan.
In an essay, describe a comprehensive communication plan appropriate for the context described in the above prompts. Give examples that include the following components:
• Routine Communications (frequency, format, typical content)
• Alternative Communication Options (used when it appears communications have not been received)
• Communication Protocols (discipline infractions, school emergencies, last-minute notices)
