Imagine you have been selected to be on one of the Climate Action Council (CAC)
Advisory Panels or on the Just Transition Working Group, and based on what you have learned through your
research, propose what you think is one important policy recommendation to come out of the group you select
and why. Discuss some of the challenges and obstacles to achieving your policy recommendation, and support
your presentation to the extent possible by quantifying its beneficial impact and potential contribution to
meeting the CLCPA goals.

Keep in focus the following three top priority initiatives that are essential for New York to reach the 85% GHG
emission reduction goal by 2050:
Electric Vehicles to replace gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles.
Convert from fossil fuel heating to electric heat pumps (either ground-source/geothermal or air source) for
Decarbonize electricity production–transition from natural gas to solar, wind, geothermal and other renewables,
hydropower, and nuclear, both at the electric utility power plants and through “distributed generation,” meaning
installation of renewables locally at homes and businesses.
