This chapter is about changes in the Middle East emanating from both outside and inside the region thought
those changes are surely linked together.
What I want you to do is write an essay that summarizes those changes during this period. The essay should
communicate to a reader the main content of the chapter. Please don’t give me a bullet list. I want a thoughtful
essay that summarizes and evaluates the changes.
