The purpose of the discussion questions is to bring outside material and relate it to the courseware in a way that shows a general understanding of the subject material. Students are expected to write a minimum of 500 words in response to the specified material. If outside references are used it is expected that those are annotated properly, if not, no reference to the article itself is needed.

There is no specific requirement on what your responses must consist of. However, each response is expected to be well formatted and thought out; avoid the use of personal opinions that are unsubstantiated. The rubric upon which they will be graded is below, as well as potential ideas that you may use to write about. This is by no means an all-encompassing list so please feel to go another direction.

• Other conclusions that may be drawn that the author didn’t mention.
• How does it relate to other topics we’ve already discussed?
• What’s missing from the material?
• Questions that are left unanswered?
• What is the overall theme?
• What connections did you make with the information in the article?
• What cause and effect relationships were revealed?
• Which pre-reading predictions were confirmed?
• Which predictions were revised?
