You will identify and research one case that are local to where you live (Chicago). These cases must be
appellate cases and be related to the material we cover in the course. Research can be conducted via Google
by searching for cases regarding, for example, “hospital liability for negligence,” “malpractice,” “HIPPA cases,”
etc.
Case summaries shall be written in the following format: Full Legal Name of the Case – include the case
number (EX: Mapp v. Ohio, 367 U.S. 643 (1961)) Brief Summary of the Facts of the Case (Half a page or
more). Legal Issue(s) Presented to the Court (EX: Malpractice or Assisted Suicide etc) Judgement of the Court

  reference pages. The assignment should be approximately 2-3 pages, not including the title and reference
  pages. Organize your paper using the section headings listed above for #2-6. The font should be Times New
  Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced with one-inch margins on each side of the paper. Proper spelling,
  grammar, and citations are expected within your paper as well as in a reference page.
