Case Study: Visual Arts in the UK – Baildon House

 

You have been approached by the owners of Baildon House. They have asked you to produce a report that proposes a marketing strategy for Baildon house to generate greater income to maintain the beautiful gallery and estate. The strategy should focus on increasing revenues from both visitors and corporate events. The case study is given at the end of this coursework brief. To do this, you must construct a marketing report containing the following; 1. A full marketing audit. This should conclude with a brief SWOT analysis which highlights and refers back to the most important issues for Baildon House from the External and Internal Analysis that you have conducted. 2. An examination of growth strategies potentially available to Baildon House over the next three years, concluding with a recommendation for one or more growth strategies and associated marketing objectives. 3. A discussion of different approaches to market segmentation that might be used to achieve the marketing objectives recommended and a recommendation for a segmentation, targeting and positioning strategy. 4. A conclusion that briefly explains why each of the three topics above (1,2 and 3) are important for the success of the Baildon House business. The marketing audit part of the report should be concise and insightful and, as a guideline it should comprise 800-900 words including the brief SWOT analysis (excluding headings, references and diagrams, but including any tables that you may choose to use). Parts 2, 3 and 4 of your report should each comprise of between 500 and 600 words. You are expected to use material in the case study extensively and be aware of and consider relevant information about contemporary events that may affect the industries that Baildon House is involved with from, for example, the quality newspapers. Note however, that the focus of this assignment is on your interpretation of information – predominantly that in the case study – and not on the information itself. There is plenty of information in the case study and any research outside that should be extremely limited and confined to macro and micro environmental factors which may affect Baildon House. Please do not invest much time on it – this assessment is based on the process of application of theory to situations and not on research.
