Body assessment
Choose an adult participant*and perform and document a complete a head to toe assessment, and full health history, develop a list of potential or actual NANDA nursing dx, including an actual or potential teaching point to address. Collect data on your teaching point and present this teaching plan to your “client”. Examples include diabetes management, diet exercise, weight management, disease management for hypertension, safe sex practices etc. Document your experience and present your findings in a paper format according to the guidelines below.
*Participant must be 18 to 65 years old and willing to participate completely in a full thorough health history and physical assessment. Some questions may be personal, and participant should feel at ease answering and providing you with a complete learning experience.
Components:
- Complete detailed; thorough health history.
- Complete a written physical head to toe assessment.
- Discuss your ability to navigate the “helping” relationship in the orientation phase, working phase, and termination phase. Utilize therapeutic techniques and their goals in the “helping” relationship as discussed in (Chapter 8)
- Identify communication techniques (Chapter 8). What did you do specifically to facilitate effective communication during your interview? What techniques did you use or could you have improved on? What worked well and what did not?
- Read the article titled, “Are You Practicing Within Your Scope of Practice?” by Sue Tedford, MSN, APRN**
- Research your State Board of Nursing web site and review the Nurse Practice Act associated with your state. You may choose to begin your search here: https://www.ncsbn.org/npa.htm. Describe the purpose of your state’s Nurse Practice Act.
- Develop a concept map using the following (Chapter 13):
a. Develop a basic skeleton diagram.
b. Analyze and categorize data
