Barney proposes marriage to Rose and she turns him down flat. So, Barney goes to Rose’s father and tells him that if Rose agrees to marry him, he will give her a large tract of farming land and her family can live on her land for free. Rose’s father pleads with her to reconsider and marry Barney. Barney shows Rose the tract of land he has agreed to give to her if they marry, and she starts to see some of his good qualities. After they are married, Barney refuses to deliver the deed to the property to Rose.
