Construct a 4-6 page argumentative essay on President Lyndon B. Johnson's strategic policy decisions in the aftermath of the Tet Offensive in early 1968. You are expected to make a recommendation to the President regarding alternatives to American policy and strategy in Vietnam. Use the documents provided to make your recommendations. The better papers will also acknowledge alternative courses of action and explain why your recommendation is the best. Consider the Cold War and American political context in your analysis. Please identify any strategic intelligence requirements necessary to support or prove your conclusions. Since this is a historical case study, do not suggest requirements that could not be satisfied by intelligence capabilities available in 1968. Yes there were drones (RPVs) but they did not have the capabilities as today's Predators and Global Hawks.
