As part of Phase One, students are to integrate and use knowledge about the collaborative consultation process related to Assistive Technology (AT) by following the Texas 4-Step Model: A Process for Decision Making and developing a list to provide AT support in a collaborative meeting.

    b. Then, click on the Presentation Slides under Presenter Materials toward the bottom of the page. Read through the presentation.

Graded Components of Assignment:

  1. Complete an evidence report (for Trinity) consisting of answering the following three questions:
    ➢ What barriers exist for Trinity to be able to accomplish the desired tasks?
    ➢ How does the assistive technology help the student overcome barriers and accomplish the desired tasks independently?
    ➢ What are other observations about the range of supports provided to the student?

Formatting for this portion of the assignment:
• APA style
• One paragraph per question for a total of three paragraphs
• Double spacing

  1. Complete a Consideration Report (for Trinity) that contains the following (example on pages 7-13 of Considering Assistive Technology in the IEP Process document, number 2 above):
    ➢ Legal implications for providing assistive technology to students.
    ➢ A description of the interactions and collaboration between the evaluator and other team members during the IEP team meeting. Formatting for this portion of the assignment:
    • Create a chart similar to the chart located on pages 7-11 of the Considering Assistive Technology in the IEP Process document.
    • Include the following sections:
    ➢ Instructional or Access Area
    ➢ Standard Tools
    ➢ Modifications and Accommodations of Tasks and Expectations
    ➢ Assistive Technology Solutions
  2. Access one of the Assistive Technology websites listed on pages 14-16 in the Considering Assistive Technology in the IEP Process document and write a one page review of the site. Formatting for this portion of the assignment:
    • APA style
    • Paragraph form
    • Double spacing
