Please take the Personal Report of Communication Apprehension Survey found in this unit and review your
results. Also, be sure to have read Chapter 1 before completing this assignment. Then consider how you have
reacted to speaking under stress in the past. Whether in large, medium, or small groups, what occurs when
you are feeling nervous and you have to speak? Do you lose your train of thought? Do you sweat or sway?
Perhaps you do not get stressed at all and enjoy the rush of adrenaline?
Collect for yourself a list of the physiological and psychological reactions you have to speaking and determine
your personal level of anxiety. Also, consider what you have done in the past to cope with stress and anxiety
and whether or not these interventions have been successful. Then compose a 500 word (1.5 pages), doublespaced essay in which you describe with specifics the level of speaking anxiety you experience. In the second
half of this mini essay, develop a plan for how you will cope with your stress based on the readings, peer
suggestions gleaned from discussions, and your own experiences
