Propose a research topic and compose an annotated bibliography for the
major research paper
Do the research paper about keystone xl pipeline
Part I: Proposal of Research Project
In this section, discuss what topic you plan to write on for your research paper, which will be
an extended argument synthesis. Remember that the topic must relate to an issue covered in
Naomi Klein’s This Changes Everything. The topic must be focused, and it must be about a
debatable issue (one about which more than one view is possible). This section should consist
of at least two paragraphs:
Paragraph one: Introduce your proposed topic and provide brief
background information. Describe how this topic fits in with an
environmental issue.
Paragraph two: Briefly discuss where you currently stand on the issue and
why. Include a tentative thesis. Address at least one opposing view, or
counterargument, to your position.
Part II: Annotated Bibliography
A bibliography is a list of publications on a particular topic (for example, a Works Cited page
is a type of bibliography, the bibliography of sources for an essay), and the word annotated
means “with notations.” Thus, an annotated bibliography is like a Works Cited with notes
summarizing each publication listed. Below are links to Purdue OWL with descriptions and
examples of entries for an annotated bibliography:

For this part of the assignment, you must locate and read fourteen sources about your topic.
These sources are potentially those that you will use in your research paper. For each
source, create a Works Cited entry formatted in MLA style, and then write a note about the
source:
• A short summary of the content of the source (i.e., what is it about?). Be
specific.
• An assessment of the credibility of the source and its author (i.e., why is this
source trustworthy and how will it add authority to your paper?)
• One to two sentences explaining how the information from this source
relates to your thesis. (i.e., how will you use this information in your
research paper?).
*Note: This assignment requires a summary for each source, but when you actually write
your research paper, your Works Cited entries will not include the summaries.
Here are the types of sources required for the annotated bibliography:
• Naomi Klein’s This Changes Everything
At least eight peer-reviewed journal articles.
• 4 additional sources, which can be newspaper or magazine articles,
additional books or scholarly articles, reliable government websites (for
data and statistics), and other authoritative websites.
• NO Wikipedia entries are allowed for the Annotated Bibliography (but
specialized encyclopedias are okay).
• 14 total sources required for the Annotated Bibliography.
