Strong papers begin with good planning and good planning begins with an understanding of the task. The following is a series of steps to help you in writing a successful paper:
1) Read DeVito’s chapters (9-10), and research the phenomenon of Groupthink.
2) Watch the 1957 Film, 12 Angry Men, and determine if Irving Janis’ Groupthink theory was a factor in the decision-making process by applying concepts learned from your research. Also, consider in the analysis group roles, terms, and theories learned from DeVito’s text, Essentials of Human Communication.
3) Submit a six page typed paper (MLA) on whether or not the jurors were victims of Groupthink; apply concepts, group roles and theories from your study of DeVito’s chapters. OWL Purdue Online Writing Lab is a great resource for (MLA) formatting. Include a masthead with your full name, professor name, course, submission date, and assignment title.
4) Support your opinion with five sources. (the movie and DeVito’s text can be counted as sources) Document your sources in text and with a works cited page (MLA).
