Guidance and Best Practices :
the main DB post should reflect research using the library and Internet for information regarding the role that strategic information systems (SIS) have in creating an organization’s competitive strategy. Discuss specifically how the SIS integrates the organizational strategic vision and accomplishes a competitive advantage for the organization. Provide examples to illustrate your discussion. As before, you are expected to provide 400–600 words of original information (excluding the task instructions), include at least two references to research sources, with all sources being cited using APA format, provide at least two quality responses to other students during the week, and grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format should be correct and professional.
The model answer should demonstrate that you understand that strategic information systems (SIS) have unique characteristics that allow the organization to realize competitive advantages because of the streamlining of administrative and operational activities. SIS is implemented throughout the organization, and the impact is felt by employees, customers, and all of the people who interact with those systems. An example of a SIS is a transaction processing system (TPS) that is used by airline reservation kiosks. The system that provides the best service to the customers allows for the convenient scheduling of travel reservations and ticket purchasing. Airlines that do not have a SIS to handle the booking of travel lose the competitive advantage that is gained by those airlines that have a SIS.
