Paper details:

Write a three-page paper on almost any topic addressing a course-related theme in the United States or in an area of U.S. imperial influence. The paper should not merely be about one particular environmental issue but rather must examine how natural resources intersect with culture, race, gender, or class (perhaps focused on an environmental issue, but perhaps not). Your paper should be about culture and natural resources, preferably in the U.S.! The page count need not include the bibliography.

Sources: At least three of your sources (references) must not be on the syllabus (that means not readings used in the course). Valid sources may include the following.

 Scholarly, peer reviewed academic books and journals.

Primary sources: historical newspapers, documents, diaries, maps, material sources, etc.
