Advertising Principles and Practice – ADVT11-100 Assignment 1 (Advertising analysis; 30%): Marking Guide • Due week 7 Friday Midnight • You will critique 2 forms of advertising: each critique must be 800-1000 words each totalling no more than 2000 words across both critiques. • You may choose from any form of advertising you wish, however, you MUST include a screen shot or image of what you’re critiquing. Ad analysis/critique Description, Analysis & Layout Unique creative presentation of Advertisement being critiqued along with analysis (approximately 1000 words per analysis totaling no more than 2000 words). Has the student used theory to explain / reinforce / support their analysis of the advertisements being critiqued. Is the presentation clear? Has the student made appropriate use of white space? Is the chosen format appropriate and does it make the most of displaying the ad? If uploaded to iLearn has it been uploaded in a format that can be opened, and do all images display (note word can be tricky in this regard PDF is a good option). Analysis of the advertisement and clear and accurate analysis / application of theory. . (a) does the analysis make good use of research? That is, is there evidence the student has attempted to gain information about the success or otherwise of the ad? . (b) has the student explained why they chose the ad, what about the ad was positive/negative, successful or not, appropriate/inappropriate. Has the student used information from advertising/communication theory to support their opinion? . (c) has the student supported these claims with evidence? Either from class notes, readings or research? . (d) has the student used clear, concise and appropriate language in their work? (personal pronouns are allowed in this assessment) .
