Accountable GPs for Patients Aged 75 and Older in UK
Pick an international health care policy and critique it based on three relevant criteria of your choice. The policy I would like this to be on would be the relatively recent requirement for naming an accountable general practitioner for patients aged 75 and older in the UK in order to improve care coordination for those patients. Page requirements are 5-6 pages, single spaced, 12 point font, times new roman. The criteria I think would be best are: effectiveness (did this implementation improve care coordination and patient outcomes?), cost (were there increased administrative costs or anything like that?), and quality (did it improve the quality of care the patients were receiving, did it stay the same, or did it get worse?). The writer can change the criteria if they feel something else makes more sense; I’m not sure if there will be enough to talk about for cost, and effectiveness and quality are closely related, but I can’t think of anything better. There should also be a fair amount of background on the UK’s health care system (what kind it is, how it works, etc.) and where they currently stand internationally.
I have started a bit of research and a few website I have found are: https://www.england.nhs.uk/ourwork/clinical-policy/older-people/improving-care-for-older-people/ https://www.bma.org.uk/advice/employmenVgp-practices/service-provision/named-accountable-gp-for-all-patients https://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/6/9/e011422 https://www.theguardian.com/society/2013/nov/15/jeremy-hunt-gp-contractc-crisis
