Sustainability in Project Management Practices

Sustainability in Project Management Practices

Order Description

A report which appraises the current issues surrounding the integration of sustainability objectives to project objectives and to project management.

o    Sustainability is recognized as one of the most important challenges of our time. Following the success of Al Gore’s ‘inconvenient truth’, awareness seems to

be growing that a change of mindset is needed, both in behavior as in policies. How can we develop prosperity without compromising the future? The concept of

sustainability has also been linked to project management. How can projects add to sustainable development?, but also, what does sustainability mean for projects and

project management?

Assignment Details
Task:
Write a report which appraises the current issues surrounding the integration of sustainability objectives to project objectives and to project management. To support

your points, you can use both primary data and secondary data. Evidence based on primary data collected would typically consist of interviewing 2 to 3 project

managers. Evidence based on secondary data would typically consist of references to the literature and other data sources. In doing this task, you will be in fact

analysing sustainability challenges in business projects, taking into account stakeholders objectives and ethical issues related to possible conflict of interests. It

is also an opportunity to discuss to which extent sustainability objectives are considered, for example, in project reporting and in value management. Overall, the

focus of the task is on how sustainability is incorporated into project management practices. The report should be 3000 words long. Title, author, references, and

appendices are NOT included in the word count. The report should be structured in sections, with numbered headings and sub-headings, and pagination in order to enhance

clarity. Referencing should follow the MMU Harvard style.

Marking Criteria

The report will be assessed on the following criteria:
80+%: Critical discussion displays an excellent understanding of the theory and conceptual frameworks. Excellent use of empirical evidence to assess theories and

conceptual frameworks. The evidence is very well integrated with the theory, and very confident cogent arguments are presented.
70-79%: Critical discussion displays a competent and very good understanding of the theory and conceptual frameworks. Good use of empirical evidence to assess the

theories and conceptual frameworks. The evidence is well integrated with the theory, and cogent arguments are presented.
60-69%: Critical discussion displays a good knowledge of theory and conceptual frameworks. Appropriate use of empirical evidence to assess the theories and conceptual

frameworks. Evidence is reasonably well integrated with the theory. Reasonably cogent arguments are presented.
50-59%: Critical discussion displays adequate knowledge of theory and conceptual frameworks. Evidence presented has some relevance, but is not so well integrated with

the theories and conceptual frameworks.
40-49%: Critical discussion displays some of knowledge of theory and conceptual frameworks. Little evidence is presented to support the arguments made.
30-40%: Critical discussion displays very little knowledge of theory and conceptual frameworks. Evidence presented is largely irrelevant. Discussion is more

descriptive than critical.
0-30%: Discussion displays little or no knowledge of theory and conceptual frameworks. No relevant evidence presented.
