This is a 5-7 page (double-spaced) analytical essay about a musical not covered in class that premiered on Broadway or in London’s West End before 1980. Students are responsible for selecting the musical they will write about (pending instructor approval). This final paper should incorporate vocabulary and analytical skills practiced throughout the semester in our discussions about other musicals and their place in the history of the genre. Since the essay will employ the skills from They Say/I Say that we have been practicing all semester, you must pick one professional review of the show you analyze (“they say”) to write against (“I say”) in your essay. You must turn in the final paper to pass the course.
