2.) Create a case study that includes a fictional client and situation, and describe how you would address this person’s dual diagnosis–what are the diagnoses, and
how will they be addressed from a therapeutic approach(es)? You will need to research for scholarly sources beyond the text to inform you case study. You may compose a
written case study, create a PowerPoint presentation, or discuss and/or act out your case study.
The purpose of this study is to address the interaction of mental health and substance abuse diagnoses. Assessment, interventions, and treatment will be focused on, as
well as what is appropriate in these areas for each client.
Learning outcomes in this study include evaluating the assessment tools and criteria used in the diagnosis of Dual Disorders; applying the formation of the coexistence
of substance-related disorders and the other coded DSM-IV diagnoses, such as schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, and anxiety
disorders; analyzing the categories of primary substance abuse disorders, including etiology; and evaluating the various forms of interventions for each of the dual
diagnoses.

The text for this study is Dual Diagnosis: An Integrated Approach to Treatment by Barrett, Watkins, and Lewellen. coded DSM-IV
